A typical 1960's designed School with a felted flat roof on metal decking, at the end of its design life and causing continuous maintenance problems due to the roof's easy access for vandals.

After successfully alleviating similar problems on other school complexes, the local education authority maintenance section again chose a self supporting conversion system, which transmitted the new loads to the existing main structural frame and allowing the School to function normally.

The layout of the school with a raised central hall area, dictated that a multi slope roof conversion was required, which was aesthetically acceptable and allowed the area adjacent to the central hall to be raised to accommodate future hall extension and also taking into account the proposed future school extension scheme.
